Here is Jim’s address to Democrats of Clark County at the April 2008 Convention.

Mark Twain once said that the problem with cats is that they are always on the wrong side of the door.
What’s wrong with the Republicans?
They are on the wrong side of just about everything!
Do you want every American covered by healthcare insurance?
But the GOP says no.
Do you want America out of Iraq?
But John McCain wants to stay for one hundred years!
Do you want to be the boss of you own body?
But the GOP says that they should run your life- not you!
Now some people here are Hillary fans
and some people are backing Barak!

So what brings us together?
Our shared values, our shared destiny and our common cause- above all our belief that a free people can build a future that works for everyone, and not just for some.

We are the people- here- right in this convention- who
Take the early bus,
Work the evening shift,
Teach in the classroom,
Drive the trucks,
Carry the loads
Work the docks,
Nurse the sick,
Put out fires,
And all the other things that feed, house and secure our communities.

How do we achieve prosperity?
The people who do all the work,
Need to be able to buy all that their work produces.
And the treasure of our nation and the blood our people must not be spent on wars of choice!

Have you heard what the Governor of Pennsylvania has been asking:
So…Just what didn’t you like about the nineties?
Peace or Prosperity?

Here’s what we have for eight years in the Bushes…
No peace.
No prosperity.

What’s on the rise?
The number of foreclosed homes
The number of people out of work
The price of gas and food
and America- if you want to leave town…
- Your flight has been cancelled!
This wasn’t just caused by bad managers or bad appointments, although we have seen incompetence and fraud.
YOU CANNOT MANAGE A BAD IDEA
The economy must work for the people who do the work or it simply will not work at all!

That’s why…
In the state of Washington- have the highest minimum wage in the nation.
We have some of the best work and healthcare policies in the nation.
That’s why I am asking you to join me in reelecting Christine Gregoire
… and electing every single Democrat up and down the ticket.

Now Dino Rossi says he has a plan.
Rossi wants to do to Washington State what George Bush has done for America.

So- What are going to do about it?
Are we going to knock on every door?
Are we going to ring up every phone?
Are we going to walk every block of every precinct?

This election is about one thing…

It is all about us!
