Notes 2008

From the Columbian’s Opinion Page this note from Mike Phillips of Kalama:

The Columbian’s endorsement of Jim Moeller was well deserved. What is inappropriate is its condemnation of his “pro-union stance.” Why should anyone be declaimed for advocating for higher wages, high quality health care, a voice at work, and real pensions instead of 401s? Moeller deserves this endorsement especially for his support of working people — we are all workers whether union or not.
(Emphasis added.)

Moeller faces novice Bomar

From the Columbian: A former Vancouver city councilman and an unabashed liberal, Moeller has grown in influence during three terms in the House, sponsoring legislation to help veterans and vulnerable adults and to give people more control over decisions about end-of-life medical care. As a member of the health care committee, he has been a staunch advocate for more funding of the state’s public health agencies.
