Yesterday, Barry Meier of The New York Times described in his article, “Move to Restrict Pain Killers Puts Onus on Doctors,” how Washington State’s government, Representative Moeller specifically, has taken an unprecedented step to rein in doctors’ seemingly limitless authority to prescribe powerful pain killers in seemingly limitless quantities. Representative Moeller understands that narcotics, when prescribed hastily and in unsuitable amounts, pose just as real of a threat to an individual’s health as narcotics obtained through illegal means.
